Nebraska

Well, somehow, my ol' classmates keep getting older!!!

Jim has MS and is wheelchair-bound

Harley has discontinued chemo and radiation and called in hospice

Jeanne Kain has had to give up driving and moved from her beautiful home into a very lovely senior residence in Lincoln.

Marge had to have her artificial knee replaced - she'd cracked it in a fall.

Donna is still caring for her husband who is wheelchair-bound from West Nile Virus in 2003

Ed Darby just lost his wife

and so on. But you get the pic.
I have been feeling since last fall "I gotta go see my friends!" I currently have the health to do so
.

I flew into Omaha, drove to visit the ones in Lincoln, then drove to Lex to visit those.

There 23 of us got together for dinner and visiting. Gil Gierhan got out of the hospital at noon that day. He said that he told his doctor, “I’ve got a party to go to tonight and I’m getting out of here!” He’d just had several quarts of fluid removed – he has congestive heart failure. (His wife said the doctor was probably going to let him go home that day, anyway)

With wheelchairs, walkers, canes, and oxygen tanks, it got a little crowded, but we didn’t mind at all!
