We were at Judi's for the weekend when the big storm came to Rancho. When we had left town the front yard was all chewed up and being graded to provide a graceful slope to the lawn. But it was still all loose dirt. Driving home from the airport, we found off-ramps closed because of flooding, sections of the town black with power outages from downed lines, branches and whole trees broken. Well this did not bode well for our soon-to-be new lawn.
As we drove up next to our home, the headlights hit the front yard. Our eyes were greeted with a beautiful sight - under all the leaves and branches and twigs at our place was a beautiful green lawn! I guess they got the grass in before the storm!
We later learned that although our yard man originally had planned to do the laying of the sod himself over a period of time, when he heard of the coming storm he got a crew of four and they got it all in on Monday, the day before the big storm! So the new lawn got its first good soaking!
